WELCOME to the Patron Authentication System (PASs). This service allows currently registered students, faculty and staff of California University of PA to obtain legal access to Library resources.
1. Double-check that you properly entered your CalCard number.
2. If you are still denied access, contact the Library's Circulation Desk (724-938-4092) and ask them to check the status of your CalCard number.
3. Off-campus access is not provided to the general public, including those with Guest Patron Cards.
4. Make sure you are using a current version of Internet Explorer (version 5.0 and higher) or Netscape (version 7.0 and higher). Please note that AOL's browser often causes database access problems. If you are an AOL subscriber, we recommend that you connect to the Internet and then run the standard (non-AOL) version of Internet Explorer.
If you are still having access problems, contact Loring and provide as much information as possible.
Your CalCard number is unique to California University of PA, and is the 16 digit number located on your CalCard. If your number is not working, contact the Library Circulation Desk (724-938-4092) for assistance.
If you are a currently registered student, faculty or staff member of California University of PA and you do not have a CalCard, contact the CalCard Office (724-938-4300).
Information has value. Evidence of this is demonstrated by the fact that California University purchases or leases many resources (including those you may be attempting to access) for your research and educational activities.
Maintaining these resources cost money, so vendors cannot simply give them away. As a result, access to these resources is limited to "qualified" users. Anyone who comes to the physical campus, is qualified to use our resources, including community residents not affiliated with the University.
Off-campus access, however, must be controlled, or everyone in the world would simply access these resources through our Web site. This would require us to pay the vendor for the entire cost of the resource -- which we could not afford. As a result, vendors require us to limit off-campus access to currently registered students, faculty, or staff members of the University. Your CalCard number verifies that you are eligible to use these resources from an off-campus location.
